How to apply

Document gathering
Obtain an acceptance/invitation letter from a Slovak educational institution confirmed as accredited. The letter must confirm enrolment and duration of study.

Fill out the national visa application form available at Slovak embassy websites.

Pay 90 EUR national visa application fee in cash in local currency.

Appointment booking
Schedule an in-person appointment at the Slovak embassy or consulate. Apply 2-3 months before intended start date.

Submit all documents in person at the Slovak embassy/consulate. A personal interview may be conducted and biometric data collected.

Processing wait
National visa decision within 30 days. Temporary residence processing may take up to 60 days, or 120 days in exceptional cases.

Visa collection
Upon approval, collect the national visa. After arriving in Slovakia, register with the Foreign Police Department within 3 working days. Undergo mandatory medical examination (from EUR 150). Collect temporary residence permit card (EUR 4.50).
