All international students enrolled in a full-time course at an approved educational institution in Singapore must apply for a Student's Pass through the SOLAR+ (Student's Pass Online Application and Registration) system. Part-time courses and courses conducted in the evening or on weekends are not eligible. The educational institution must first register the student's details in SOLAR+ before the student can complete the application. Students may work part-time up to 16 hours per week during term time at approved institutions, and full-time during vacations.

  • Purpose of visit

    Must be enrolled in a full-time course at an educational institution approved by ICA. Part-time, evening, and weekend courses are not eligible.

  • Proof of funds

    Accepted forms: Bank statements, scholarship letters, or sponsorship documents; Minimum amount: Sufficient funds for tuition and living expenses

  • Medical certificate

    Provide medical evidence from a recognised doctor or clinic when the route asks for health confirmation.

    Required tests: Health examination confirming free from communicable diseases

How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Gather required documents: valid passport, recent photo, admission letter from the educational institution, proof of financial means, and medical examination report.

  2. Online application

    Educational institution registers the student's details in the SOLAR+ system. Student then logs in to complete eForm 16 and upload all required documents.

  3. Fee payment

    Pay the non-refundable SGD 30 application fee via online payment through SOLAR+.

  4. Processing wait

    Wait 2-4 weeks for ICA to process the application. Apply at least 2 months before the course start date.

  5. Visa collection

    If approved, an In-Principle Approval (IPA) letter is issued via SOLAR+. Print the IPA letter to use as a single-entry visa to enter Singapore. Upon arrival, complete formalities at ICA within the specified timeframe to receive the Student's Pass card. Pay SGD 60 issuance fee.
