Transit visa is granted to travelers transiting through Uganda to a third country. Maximum stay is 7 days and visa is not extendable. Only required for travelers who intend to exit the airport before their next flight. Those remaining in the airport transit area do not need a transit visa. Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for all travelers over 1 year of age. All documents must be in English.

How to apply

  1. Online application

    Complete the transit visa application at the official Uganda immigration portal. Upload passport bio-data page, photograph, yellow fever certificate, confirmed flight reservations showing onward travel, and personal letter detailing purpose of transit and final destination.

  2. Fee payment

    Pay the visa fee of $50 USD online using credit or debit card at the time of application.

  3. Processing wait

    Wait for visa processing. Most applications are processed within 2-3 business days. Apply before your travel date.

  4. Visa collection

    Download and print your transit visa confirmation. Present it at port of entry along with passport, yellow fever certificate, and confirmed onward flight tickets. Visa is valid for maximum 7 days and is not extendable.
