How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Prepare documents establishing eligibility (family registry, birth certificates, proof of Japanese ancestry, etc.).

  2. Processing wait

    Apply for COE at Regional Immigration Bureau. Processing varies, typically 1-3 months.

  3. Document submission

    Apply for visa at Japanese Embassy/Consulate with COE.

  4. Fee payment

    Pay visa fee of approximately 3,000 JPY.

  5. Visa collection

    Collect visa and enter Japan.
