Holders of diplomatic, service, and official passports from certain visa-required countries are exempt from visa requirements when travelling to Ireland in an official capacity. Countries with diplomatic passport visa exemptions include China, Colombia, Georgia, Indonesia, Kuwait, Moldova, Montenegro, Peru, Qatar, South Africa, and Turkey. All other diplomatic passport holders from visa-required countries must apply through diplomatic channels. Accredited diplomatic agents and their families enjoy privileges and immunities under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations (VCDR). Diplomatic staff must hold diplomatic passports; administrative and technical staff must hold diplomatic or service/official passports.
