Standard Schengen Type C visa for tourism purposes in Latvia. Nationals of Annex I countries under EU Regulation 2018/1806 must apply at a Latvian embassy, consulate, or authorized VFS Global application centre before travel. Applications may be submitted 6 months to 15 days before travel (seafarers may submit up to 9 months before). Latvia must be the main destination of the trip (the country where you will spend the most days). Since June 2024, the standard Schengen visa fee is EUR 90 for adults. Reduced fee of EUR 35 applies for citizens of Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine under EU visa facilitation agreements. As of November 2024, a mandatory questionnaire must be included with the visa application for citizens of specified states.

How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Gather all required documents including passport, photo, insurance, bank statements, accommodation proof, flight reservations, and cover letter.

  2. Online application

    Complete the Schengen visa application form electronically, print it out and sign it. Download from the Latvian MFA website or the embassy website.

  3. Appointment booking

    Schedule an appointment at the Latvian embassy, consulate, or authorized VFS Global application centre. Apply between 6 months and 15 days before planned travel.

  4. Fee payment

    Pay the visa fee at the time of application submission.

  5. Biometrics

    Provide biometric data (10 fingerprints and digital photograph) at the application appointment. Biometrics are valid for 59 months and may not need to be retaken if previously provided for another Schengen visa within the past 5 years.

  6. Document submission

    Submit all documents in person and attend interview if required. Applications are submitted through VFS Global in most countries.

  7. Processing wait

    Wait for visa processing decision. Standard processing time is 15 calendar days. May take up to 45 days in complex cases or if additional documents are required.

  8. Visa collection

    Collect your passport with visa sticker from the embassy/consulate or VFS centre, or receive via courier if available.
