Replaced the Diplomatic Visa (subclass 995) which closed on 4 April 2022. This visa covers multiple streams: Government Agreement, Foreign Government Agency, Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular), and Privileges and Immunities. For diplomatic and consular personnel, requests must be made by the sending state's foreign ministry via diplomatic note to DFAT. Also covers the Seasonal Worker Programme and Pacific Labour Scheme.

Eligibility

  • Nationality

    Open to all nationalities. Diplomatic and consular personnel must be formally recommended by DFAT for accreditation.

  • Purpose of visit

    Must be coming to Australia under a government agreement, as a foreign government agency employee, as a domestic worker for diplomatic staff, or under privileges and immunities arrangements

  • Employment

    Must have appropriate arrangements with a government agency or international organisation

  • Health exam

    Panel physician required: May be required; Validity months: 12

    Pay AUD $375 (some streams may be fee-exempt for diplomatic personnel)
