Temporary visa for people coming to Australia for medical treatment, consultation, or to donate an organ. Also available for a person supporting/accompanying someone receiving medical treatment. Must have arrangements made with an Australian medical facility. Must demonstrate ability to pay for treatment and living expenses. Free of charge when applying from outside Australia. Some applicants under government agreements may be eligible for fee waivers.

    Must demonstrate ability to pay for medical treatment and living expenses. Must not have unpaid debts to the Australian government

    Must meet general health requirements (separate from the medical condition being treated)

    Blank pages required: 1; Validity months: 6

  • Proof of funds

    Accepted forms: Bank statements, letter from medical facility showing payment arrangements, health insurance evidence; Minimum amount: Sufficient to cover medical treatment costs and living expenses

  • Medical certificate

    Provide medical evidence from a recognised doctor or clinic when the route asks for health confirmation.

    Required tests: Form 1507 - Evidence of Intended Medical Treatment signed by registered practitioner detailing treatment plan; Validity months: 6

  • Private health insurance

    Coverage territory: Australia; Minimum coverage: Coverage for medical treatment and related expenses
