The Special Tourist Visa (STV) was introduced for long-stay tourists. It allows an initial stay of 90 days, extendable twice (each extension is 90 days for THB 1,900 each), for a maximum total stay of 270 days. The STV requires a minimum stay intention of 90 days and proof of accommodation for the full 90-day period. Higher financial requirements than standard tourist visas apply.

    Provide flight booking or itinerary evidence when the route asks for travel plans.

    Accepted methods: Credit card, debit card (online); Amount: THB 2,000 (approx. USD 80)

How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Gather: passport (12+ months validity), photo, flight booking, accommodation proof for 90 days, 12-month bank statements showing THB 500,000+, and health insurance with USD 100,000 coverage.

  2. Online application

    Apply via Thailand e-Visa portal or at a Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate.

  3. Fee payment

    Pay the visa fee of THB 2,000 (approx. USD 80).

  4. Processing wait

    Wait 10-15 business days for processing.

  5. Visa collection

    Upon approval, e-Visa is linked to passport digitally.
