National Visa D for students enrolled or accepted at a Slovenian university or other recognized educational institution. After arrival in Slovenia, students must apply for a Temporary Residence Permit for Study (dovoljenje za zacasno prebivanje zaradi studija) at the local Administrative Unit (Upravna enota). The residence permit is valid for 1 year and renewable with proof of continued enrollment and academic progress. Students may work up to 20 hours per week with a work permit or through student employment services (studentski servis). Slovenia has public universities in Ljubljana, Maribor, Koper, and Nova Gorica. Many programs are offered in English.

    Third-country nationals (non-EU/EEA/Swiss) who have been accepted at a Slovenian educational institution.

  • Purpose of visit

    Must be enrolled or accepted for a study programme at a recognized Slovenian university or educational institution.

  • Financial

    Must demonstrate sufficient financial means: minimum EUR 450/month. Scholarship letters, blocked accounts, or parent guarantees accepted.

  • Health

    Must have adequate health insurance coverage valid in Slovenia.

  • Criminal record

    Must provide evidence of no criminal record.
