Vietnam does not issue a separate medical visa. Foreign patients typically use tourist visas, e-visas, or visa exemptions for medical travel. Hospitals accept patients with tourist visas, and Vietnam allows visa extensions for 1-3 months if additional time is needed for treatment or recovery. Hospitals or medical tourism agencies can assist with extension applications. Travelers must have sufficient funds and/or insurance to cover medical costs, as hospitals may hold passports as collateral for payment.
