Citizens of EU member states, EEA countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway), and Switzerland have the right of free movement and residence in Cyprus under EU Treaty rights. No visa or entry permit is required. A valid national ID card or passport (bearing a photograph) is sufficient for entry. There is no limit on the duration of stay. For stays exceeding 3 months, EU/EEA citizens must register for a 'Yellow Slip' (Registration Certificate) within 4 months of arrival, confirming their right to reside. Cyprus is an EU member but not yet part of the Schengen Area.
