The D7 visa is for non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals with passive income (pensions, investments, rental income, dividends, or remote employment income). Applicants must show stable monthly income of at least EUR 920 (2026 minimum wage). Additional income required for family members: 50% extra per spouse/dependent parent (EUR 460), 30% extra per child (EUR 276). Must live in Portugal at least 16 months during the first 2 years. The residence permit is valid for 2 years, renewable for 3-year periods. Citizenship possible after 5 years (may increase to 7-10 years under proposed law changes).
