For non-EU journalists seeking to work as permanent foreign correspondents in Austria. Short-stay press coverage (up to 90 days) can use a Schengen Type C visa or visa-free entry for eligible nationalities. For long-term assignments, a Visa D and subsequent residence permit are required. Press accreditation is issued by the Federal Chancellery (Bundeskanzleramt) at Ballhausplatz 1, Vienna. First-time accreditation is valid for 1 year. Accredited journalists receive a digitalized badge. Requirements include a letter of assignment from the media organization, samples of journalistic work, and a personal meeting at the Chancellery.
