Required for nationals of 19 specific countries when transiting through Luxembourg airport without entering the Schengen Area. The common Schengen-wide list (12 countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, DR Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka) applies to all Schengen airports. Luxembourg adds 7 additional countries to its national list: Angola, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Nepal, Sudan, Syria, and South Sudan. Exemptions: holders of a valid Schengen visa, another type of visa or residence card from an EU/EEA member state, or from Andorra, Canada, USA, Japan, or San Marino. Diplomatic passport holders and EU citizen family members are also exempt. If transiting through more than one Schengen airport, a regular Type C visa is required instead.
