Nationals of Annex II countries under EU Regulation 2018/1806 may enter Portugal and the Schengen Area without a visa for short stays up to 90 days within any 180-day period. For Albania (AL), Bosnia and Herzegovina (BA), Georgia (GE), Moldova (MD), Montenegro (ME), North Macedonia (MK), Serbia (RS), Ukraine (UA), and Taiwan (TW), visa-free access applies only to holders of biometric passports. ETIAS pre-travel authorization will be required starting Q4 2026. EU/EEA/Swiss nationals have unlimited freedom of movement and do not require any visa.

    Must be a national of an Annex II country under EU Regulation 2018/1806. Biometric passport required for AL, BA, GE, MD, ME, MK, RS, UA, and TW nationals.

How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Ensure your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your planned departure date from the Schengen Area and has at least one blank page. Prepare proof of accommodation, return flight, and sufficient funds.

  2. Processing wait

    No visa processing required. Present documents at the border upon arrival. Immigration officers may verify purpose of stay, accommodation, return travel, and financial means.
