Standard Schengen short-stay visa for nationals of countries not exempt from visa requirements. Valid for the entire Schengen Area. Can be issued for single, double, or multiple entries. Fee is EUR 40 for children aged 6-11. Children under 6 are exempt from fees. Multiple-entry visas with longer validity (1-5 years) may be issued to frequent travelers with good visa history. Applications must be submitted no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before the planned trip.

How to apply

  1. Online application

    Complete the Schengen visa application form online or download and fill out the paper form. Create an account on the VFS Global portal for Norway.

  2. Document gathering

    Gather all required supporting documents: passport, photos, travel insurance, flight reservations, accommodation proof, financial proof, cover letter, and any additional documents for your specific purpose of visit.

  3. Appointment booking

    Book an appointment at the nearest VFS Global visa application center or Norwegian embassy/consulate. Appointments should be booked no earlier than 6 months and no later than 15 days before travel.

  4. Fee payment

    Pay the visa application fee (EUR 80 for adults) and VFS Global service fee (approximately EUR 26) online during appointment booking or at the application center.

  5. Biometrics

    Attend your appointment in person to submit biometrics (10 fingerprints and digital photograph). Children under 12 are exempt from fingerprinting. Biometrics are valid for 59 months and may not need to be recollected if previously stored.

  6. Document submission

    Submit your completed application form, passport, supporting documents, and biometrics at the VFS Global center or embassy/consulate.

  7. Processing wait

    Standard processing takes 15 calendar days from submission. May extend to 30-45 days in exceptional cases or during peak season. Track your application status online via VFS Global.

  8. Visa collection

    Collect your passport with the visa decision from the VFS Global center, or receive it by courier if you selected that option. Check visa sticker details (dates, entries, duration) carefully upon receipt.
