The Positive List Scheme allows foreign nationals to obtain a work permit if they have a job offer for a profession on the Positive List for Skilled Work, which identifies occupations experiencing a shortage of qualified professionals in Denmark. The list is updated twice yearly (1 January and 1 July). Applicants must have qualifications relevant to the position. Employment terms and salary must meet Danish standards.

    Required for all non-EU/EEA nationals. EU/EEA and Swiss nationals do not need a work permit.

  • Employment

    Must have a job offer for a position on the Positive List for Skilled Work. Must hold qualifications relevant to the position. Salary and employment conditions must meet Danish standards.

How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Obtain job offer for a Positive List position, prepare passport copies, educational certificates, and professional qualifications.

  2. Online application

    Create a case order ID on SIRI website and complete the work permit application form.

  3. Fee payment

    Pay the DKK 6,810 application fee.

  4. Biometrics

    Record biometrics within 14 days of application at Danish diplomatic mission or SIRI branch office.

  5. Document submission

    Submit case order ID and all documentation.

  6. Processing wait

    Wait for processing, typically 1-3 months.

  7. Visa collection

    Receive decision and collect residence/work permit card.
