Citizens of referral visa countries cannot obtain visa on arrival or regular e-Visa. Applications must be pre-approved by Tanzania Immigration Department. Applicants should not book flights or make payments for reservations before visa approval. Apply at least 2 months before travel date.

How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Gather passport, photos, travel itinerary (not confirmed bookings), proof of funds, and invitation letter if applicable

  2. Document submission

    Submit application to nearest Tanzanian embassy or consulate for referral to Immigration Department

  3. Processing wait

    Wait for referral approval from Tanzania Immigration Department. This can take at least 2 months

  4. Visa collection

    Once approved, collect visa from embassy. Only then should you book flights and accommodation
