For employment stays exceeding the 1-year national D visa period, a temporary residence permit must be obtained. The applicant must obtain a decision from the Employment Service confirming that the work corresponds to Lithuanian labour market demands. The permit is applied for through MIGRIS. The applicant must meet salary thresholds: at least 1.2 times the average monthly gross salary (EUR 2,667.60), or at least the average (EUR 2,223.00) for professions on the high value-added shortage list. The temporary residence permit is tied to the specific employer. After 5 years of continuous legal residence, the holder may apply for a permanent residence permit.

  • Nationality

    Third-country nationals (non-EU/EEA/Swiss) with a confirmed employment offer in Lithuania.

  • Employment

    Must have Employment Service decision confirming the position meets Lithuanian labour market demands. Salary must meet minimum thresholds.

How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Secure employment offer and Employment Service decision. Gather passport, photos, employment contract, CV, insurance, and accommodation proof.

  2. Online application

    Submit temporary residence permit application through MIGRIS online system.

  3. Appointment booking

    Book appointment at Lithuanian embassy or consulate for identity verification and D visa application.

  4. Fee payment
