The D2 visa is for non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals who wish to start or manage a business in Portugal. There is no minimum investment requirement, but the business plan must demonstrate financial viability and economic, social, or cultural impact in Portugal. The visa leads to a 2-year residence permit, renewable for 3-year periods. After 5 years, permanent residency or citizenship may be possible.

    All non-EU/EEA/Swiss nationals with a viable business plan or existing business operations in Portugal.

  • Financial

    Must demonstrate at least EUR 11,040 in savings (12 months of minimum wage). No minimum investment amount, but business plan must show financial viability.

How to apply

    Book appointment at Portuguese embassy/consulate.

  3. Document submission

    Submit all documents including the business plan, Declaration of Investment, and supporting financial documentation.

  4. Fee payment

    Pay the EUR 110 national visa fee.

  5. Processing wait

    Processing takes 30-90 days depending on the complexity of the business plan assessment.

  6. Visa collection

    Collect passport with D2 visa. Valid for 4 months. Apply for residence permit at AIMA upon arrival.
