Standard Schengen visa (Type C) for tourism purposes. Applications processed through Swedish embassies/consulates or VFS Global service centers. Reduced fee of EUR 35 applies to nationals of: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cape Verde, and Russia (suspended). Some applicants are fee-exempt: school pupils, university students, doctoral students, researchers, non-profit representatives under 25. Apply earliest 6 months before travel, latest 15 days before trip.

How to apply

  1. Document gathering

    Gather all required documents: passport, photos, insurance, financial proof, accommodation proof, flight bookings, and purpose-specific documents.

  2. Online application

    Complete the Schengen visa application form online or on paper. Some embassies require online pre-registration.

  3. Appointment booking

    Book an appointment at the Swedish embassy/consulate or VFS Global application center in your country.

  4. Document submission

    Attend appointment and submit all documents in person. Original passport must be presented.

  5. Biometrics

    Provide biometric data (fingerprints and digital photograph) at the application center. Biometrics stored for 59 months in the Visa Information System (VIS).

  6. Fee payment

    Pay the visa application fee at the time of submission: EUR 90 (adults), EUR 45 (children 6-11).

  7. Processing wait

    Wait for processing. Standard decision within 15 calendar days. May extend to 45-60 days if additional examination is required.

  8. Visa collection

    Collect passport with visa sticker from the embassy/consulate or VFS Global center. Decision communicated via email or SMS.
