Luxembourg now allows 3 years of relevant professional experience in IT or managerial roles to substitute for formal academic qualifications. EU Blue Card holders from other member states can work in Luxembourg for up to 90 days without additional permits, and can relocate permanently with simplified procedures. Family reunification is possible immediately without a waiting period. Pathway to permanent residency available.

For third-country nationals employed by a Luxembourg-based employer. The employer must first register the vacancy with ADEM (Agence pour le développement de l'emploi) and pass a labour market test to demonstrate no suitable EU candidate is available. The employer then applies for temporary authorisation to stay on behalf of the worker. Once approved, the worker applies for a Type D visa. After arrival, the worker must register at the local commune within 3 days, undergo a mandatory medical examination, and apply for a residence permit within 90 days. Family reunification is possible after 1 year of residence.
