Long-stay visa for employment (symbol D/AM) for third-country nationals with a confirmed job offer in Romania. The process is employer-led: the Romanian employer must first obtain a work authorization (aviz de munca) from the General Inspectorate for Immigration (IGI). Only after work permit approval can the employee apply for the D/AM visa. Employer must pay EUR 100 per work permit. The annual quota for non-EU workers was set at 100,000 in 2025. Employers must have operated in Romania for at least one year. After arrival, the employer must finalize the employment contract within 15 business days.

    Must have a confirmed job offer from a Romanian employer who has obtained a work authorization from IGI. The position must not be fillable by Romanian, EU/EEA citizens, or permanent residents.

    IGI processes work permit application within 30 days (may extend by 15 days for verification). Employer pays EUR 100 work permit fee.

  3. Online application

    After work permit approval, complete the long-stay visa application form online at evisa.mae.ro or obtain paper form.

  4. Appointment booking

    Book appointment at the Romanian embassy or consulate in your country of residence.

  5. Fee payment

    Pay the long-stay visa fee of EUR 120.

  6. Document submission

    Submit all documents including work permit approval, employment contract, criminal record, medical certificate, insurance, and accommodation proof.

  7. Visa collection
