The Single Permit (Enotno dovoljenje za prebivanje in delo) is Slovenia's combined work and residence permit for third-country nationals. It is the primary route for employment-based immigration to Slovenia. The employer initiates the process by applying to the Employment Service of Slovenia (ZRSZ) for a labor market test, confirming the position cannot be filled by a Slovenian/EU citizen. The Single Permit is valid for 1 year and is initially tied to the specific employer. After 1 year, the holder may change employers freely. After 5 years of continuous legal residence, the holder may apply for permanent residence.
