Nationals of Annex II countries under EU Regulation 2018/1806 may enter Sweden and the Schengen area without a visa for stays up to 90 days in any 180-day period. ETIAS pre-travel authorization will be required starting late 2026. Passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond planned departure and issued within the last 10 years. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Ukraine require biometric passports for visa-free entry.

Citizens of EU, EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway) and Switzerland have the right to enter, reside, and work in Sweden without a visa or permit under EU free movement rules. A valid passport or national ID card is required for entry. No time limit on stay; registration with the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) is recommended for stays over 3 months.

Standard Schengen visa (Type C) for tourism purposes. Applications processed through Swedish embassies/consulates or VFS Global service centers. Reduced fee of EUR 35 applies to nationals of: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cape Verde, and Russia (suspended). Some applicants are fee-exempt: school pupils, university students, doctoral students, researchers, non-profit representatives under 25. Apply earliest 6 months before travel, latest 15 days before trip.
