Work permit allows the applicant to live and work in Uganda. Always sponsored by an organization or company which must have a mandatory organization code. Class G2 is most common for foreign employees including salaried employees working in NGOs. Processing takes 4-6 weeks with potential delays if documentation is incomplete. Fees vary by category (Class A: $0, Class B1/D: $1,250-$7,500). Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory. Any foreign national who intends to work in Uganda requires a valid work permit regardless of employment duration.

How to apply

Employer or applicant completes the work permit application (Class G2) at the official Uganda immigration portal. Upload all required documents including passport, employment contract, sponsorship letter, qualifications, police clearance, and yellow fever certificate.

Pay the work permit fee online. Fees vary by category: Class A ($0), Class B1 and D ($1,250-$7,500). Payment is made using credit or debit card.

Visa collection
Once approved, download the work permit approval. Present it at port of entry along with passport and yellow fever certificate. The work permit allows you to live and work in Uganda for the specified period.
