Short-stay Mission Visa (Type C) for journalists from state press organizations or journalists covering short-term events in Italy (conferences, elections, summits, etc.). For Annex I country nationals only - Annex II nationals can cover short press events under their visa-free 90-day allowance. Accreditation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is still recommended but may not be strictly required for short missions.

National visa (Type D) for foreign correspondents and press reporters accredited to work in Italy for periods over 90 days. For short-term press assignments under 90 days, a Mission Visa (Type C) may be used instead. Journalists must obtain accreditation from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) Institutional Press and Communication Service. Covers journalists, photographers, camera operators, and other press workers employed by recognized overseas media organizations. Within 8 days of arrival, apply for a residence permit at the local Questura. Note: Visa-free (Annex II) nationals may cover short press events without a visa under the 90-day rule.
