Travelers who remain within the international transit zone at Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) or Don Mueang Airport (DMK) and have a connecting flight departing within 12 hours generally do not need a visa or transit permit. Passengers must have a confirmed onward boarding pass and must not pass through Thai immigration. This applies to most nationalities with some exceptions. Citizens of Pakistan are required to obtain a visa when transiting through Thailand at all times. Passengers on certain airlines (e.g., Angkor Air, Beijing Capital Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Eastar Jet, Golden Myanmar Airlines, IndiGo) may face additional restrictions.

The Transit Visa (TS) allows foreign nationals to transit through Thailand for up to 30 days per entry. This visa is required for travelers whose transit exceeds 12 hours and who need to leave the international transit zone or pass through Thai immigration. Nationals from visa-exempt countries do not need a transit visa as they can enter on their visa exemption. Multiple-entry transit visas are available for 60-day validity with up to 4 entries. Citizens of Pakistan must always obtain a visa when transiting through Thailand.
